Both game were epic! :D
Any unorthodox strat you play against a world class team requires guts and actually winning that game is pure epicness. Puppey showed off his mastery over the art of making strategies in these two games and wonderfully executed them as well. Kudos Puppey!
In game 1, he starts off in an orthodox manner with Vengeful and Lion, his dazzle pick only reveals a highly probable armor reducing strategy which LGD tried to take care of next by banning Alchemist and Nevermore. However, NWO actually planned out a ‘vanguard + aura’ push strat. This was a marvellous strategy tried out in NWO's match a few days back.
Other than the pick sequence, I loved the locations where Puppey planted his wards. One epic ward is shown below where Chen failed to find it even with senties. :D
I found an interesting comment by AzureD on PlayDota giving a nice insight on Puppey's strategy...
The first game is deeper than just mass aura for + damage. It kinda requires for the team to stay alive at all times. So they concentrate very hard on strong defense on all their heroes. It is like a perfect storm of defenses.
Wave of Terror to reduce damage and amplify team damage, Vanguard to reduce initial hit, high armor to reduce even more damage, mass heal from Shadow Wave to heal even more damage, mekanism to provide even more mass heal and armor, and finally wand on almost everybody to provide a further boost for healing. Oh I guess Shallow Grave in case something goes wrong too.
Now that they have this super defense they also have perfect storm of damage amplification. Wave of Terror, Howl, Weave, Command Aura, Lunar Blessing, and Vladamir Aura.

concerning the first game
ReplyDeletewell phoenix u said it all in ur analysis...not really much to add...truly an amazing counter pick strategy puppy his imba physical aura damage between vengfull lycan and luna meant about +100 damage in every team battle after minute 12 when all heroes maxed out their auras making NWO unstoppable ...also the luna pick is quite nice since luna's glave's also put her in a counter pushing position should the game have lasted longer.the laning phase was rough on LGD since despite them having more kills they were behind by 3 lvls as a team by minute 10.
all i can add is the epic move made by lion at minute 11 at the sentinal upper tower where he teleported there killed chen and denied a tower all in one move:)
watching the second game now:D
Oh yes! Azen denying that tower was epic! There were some strategic aspects of the game too which I did not mention due to lack of time... Lycan took damage aura at lvl 1 for jungling even when generally we use wolves to tank the neutrals. Due to his aura it became pretty easy for Dazzle to harass Morphling and outfarm him in lane. Even Luna took damage aura first of all! :D
ReplyDeleteas for the second game i dont know what happened to LGD i mean for the first time in such a professional match ive seen such a great difference in skill...LGD lost all the lanes...the loss was obvious tinker dominated rajin and windrunner massively out farmed necrolyte early game which i really didnt get since necro is a far better laner...
ReplyDeletealso in every battle in the game LGD failed some ran some stayed no coordination at all .
my favorite moment by far was aleria denying slayer and then NWO getting first blood at the top lane truly epic by any standards i mean as i was watching i thought wtf :) was slayer doing initiating like that but then bam...deny and first blood:D...
a funny mistake was windrunner buying 2 lothar recipies:D...
the dirge pick was nice u need a healer to lane against veno and he also played a great pushing role and his decay and flesh golem served great countering the enemy tankers mainly bristle back loosing 4 strength every 4 seconds really kills a tanker like bb since the loss in health isnt reduced by bb's bb:).
by mid game the victor was clear raijin didnt even farm his bkb:S:S:S.all the LGD players where out leveled and tinker was imba with chivas guard and guisno on the way...
