Mirana did not dare to go into battle for fear of losing the divine. There were also much better alternatives!
Butterfly, for example.
The Divine Rapier was a dumb item choice by Mirana. Predicting the fate was hard because carries of both sides were farmed and could mega creeps in few seconds. It just became a matter of who gets the first opportunity to do so. Just my opinion though. :)
