Replay 71: MYM Prime XII: Aeon vs DTS

Game Length: 53:32 min

This game was not exactly an Epic Game, but very good and I decided to post it because I already did an analysis for it. :P

The Ganking Singaporeans vs The Regenerating Ukrainians

The Pick Phase

Aeon came for this game with a gank strategy in mind, started off with an aggressive Storm pick. Vengeful is the best first pick I know while Rylai was picked by DTS so her aura wouldn’t help Storm. Aeon resumed their gank strategy with a strong Lion Enigma pick, although I should say picking Enigma when your opponent has Vengeful is a dangerous thing to do. Next, DTS pick Warlock and Necrolyte. Although a Silencer pick hit my mind at that moment because he could’ve nicely dealt with all three casters, Storm, Lion and Enigma. Anyways, Warlock also provides a good counter to Enigma’s Black hole with his massive AoE ulti. Necrolyte on the other hand, was picked to handle Storm so he doesn’t get away at low health. With these picks, DTS confirmed a good push line-up with 2 healers and a mana fountain Ryali. :P Next came a surprise ganking pick by Aeon, the Spectre! :D And with her came the regular tri-laner support Vol’jin. Last pick was Kunkka which nicely fit the DTS line-up although a tank could’ve made their pushing a lot easier imo.

Aeon heroes were very strong late game while on the other hand DTS had a good pushing line-up. This should mean the mid game should belong to DTS shifting its favour towards Aeon as the game progresses. If someone asks me whose line-up was better, I’d say DTS’ because unlike Aeon, they didn’t depend on their carries farming up a lot.

Laning Phase

The laning phase went quite devastating for team DTS. Spectre was already on a killing spree including the first blood before she even hit level 6 and Storm faced no problems farming against solo Warlock. On the other hand, neither Necrolyte nor Warlock showed exceptional farms.

A miraculous escape by hyhy (Storm Spirit) at the 9th minute from Warlock’s ulti and Venge’s attack. J
Mid Game

Aeon continued their early game dominance with an 11:7 lead at the 20th minute. Although DTS were pushing hard and took away Aeon’s top melee barrack, koknum (Enigma) took out the DTS’ mid melee barrack which was a much better advantage imo because the mid creeps take less time to push lane which means more pressure on the team.

One noticeable thing about team Aeon was their priority to pick out the supports first, Vengeful Spirit and Crystal Maiden first of all in any battle. Can’t say if this was good or bad, but ganking and taking out carries is the way we do things generally.

Late Mid-Game

The super-farmed Spectre completed her radiance at the 24th minute. But now even Necrolyte looked daunting with both Hood and Vanguard complete and a Mekansm in his inventory... serving the “tank” role which DTS needed for a successful push.

Here’s what Necrolyte’s and Spectre’s inventory looked like at the 26th minute... (Both were level 15 at this time)
One could see the game turning into DTS’ favour in the team battle at 29th minute. Necrolyte was unkillable and his multiple heals made sure even his teammates did not die easily.

Another major development that happened during this fight was Aeon losing their top lane barracks to creeps.
One should note now that the first target of Aeon changed from Rylai/Venge to Kunkka/Warlock the reason being, now their AoE ulti made more impact over the game.

Late Game
DTS won a major team fight at the 34th minute when they killed Roshan but koknum (Enigma) took away the Aegis. :P

This battle showed again how powerful healer Necrolyte can be for the complete team.
The game turned completely into DTS’ favour when they mega’ed the mid lane creeps at 37th minutes. Unfortunately for Aeon, Spectre had the same inventory as she had at the 26th min. I showed earlier.

Overall, it was a nice entertaining game. Team Aeon was overconfident over Spectre’s late game potential and neglected the need to gank Necrolyte. Also, Spectre wasted a lot of gold over buy-backs and hyhy’s inability to farm tier 4 items was unacceptable.

Recommended Game for Necrolyte.
